Yahoo finally released the most anticipated upgrade of Yahoo Messenger. The Yahoo Messenger 9.0 was released a week after its rival Windows Live Messenger released an update. Yahoo Messenger 9.0 replaces the 8.1 version as it showcases advance instant messaging features like the capability see scaled public images and videos in the chat window.

Yahoo Messenger 9.0 offers a more attractive navigation bar. It also employs larger avatar thumbnails and a separate room to read a contact’s status message.
The YM 9.0 is also integrated with Yahoo’s other services like Yahoo’s Buzz, Avatars, 360 as well as MyBlogLog.

Users can also change themes of their Messenger, a feature that used to be available only through unofficial Yahoo Messenger tweaks.

The chat window in this new Yahoo Messenger allows the embedding of new media items like scaled maps, images, videos and public photos. You or your chat mate can easily drag and drop items in popular extensions like .jpg, .png, .gif or .bmp.

One of the unique features of Yahoo Messenger 9.0 is the capability of accessing YouTube videos without leaving the instant messaging interface. Users can literally share YouTube videos, talk about it, and rate it while chatting.

Another unique feature is the YM Pingbox. Pingbox is an app that can be integrated and be used alongside with other YM 9.0 features. Due to its nature of usuability in web interface and development, Pingbox is perfect for bloggers, eBay sellers or social networking enthusiasts.
