Millions of FaceBook and MySpace users go wary as a virus that sends mass numbers of bogus emails attacked two of the largest social networking sites.
The virus initially attacked Facebook by automatically sending bogus email messages to users listed on the friend list of an already infected account, urging others to watch a fake YouTube video.
The email will tell the recipient to download a “plug in” in order to access the video. This supposed plug in contains a virus that once downloaded will install itself and cause the user to send hundred of bogus emails, further spreading the virus.
Technical Expert Marc Saltzman, who received some of the bogus emails ago, said that the fake email contains the correct logos and web addresses to telling if it is a fake email in an instant will not be an easy task.
Millions of social networking site members are now in danger because of the virus. Experts agree that the virus in indeed very well constructed, proven by how it was able to corrupt the computers of thousands of FaceBook users.
Sources indicate that a virus employing the same email attack is currently attacking MySpace users.
