iPhoneAlthough iPhone has so many astonishing capabilities, video recording is one of the main things it lacks. 3G iPhone will have such capability with VoIP, but what about iPhones already out there? VideoRecorder, a software solution has just appeared to enable iPhone owners to record video using their iPhones for $19.95.

The software has an interface that lets the user choose their preferred resolution for recording, with the maximum set to 320×416 pixels. The user can also turn on the audio input amplifier to rise up the audio volume in the recording. Since video recording is not natively supported by iPhone, the user has to wait for the application to compress the recoded video to a MPEG-4 file. The software promises that a high-quality one-hour video could be compressed to a 60MB file.

The application developer, DreamCatcher, claims that the video could be recorded at 15fps but it seems that practically this rate is not reached. Users can play their video, e-mail it or share it with their friends through their YouTube account, all from within the software itself.

The software maker promises to make updates to the software, which are accessible to the software purchasers to deliver smoother veideo recording. The software is also expected to be compatible with iPhone 2.0 firmware once it’s released this month.
