Sony unveiled its ultra-advanced digital single lens reflex early this week. The Alpha DSLR camera boasts highly advanced features that include full-frame sensor and a record 24.6-megapixel resolution.

The Alpha 900 sports full-frame sensor technology. This allows the DSLR to capture images as efficient as the full 35mm film frame. The technology was developed as the company’s proprietary unit that integrates 6,000 analog-to-digital convertors.

Sony’s camera operates silently. The Alpha camera is powered by the Bionz image processing chips, a special image processor that can do continuous shooting at full resolution and can take up to 5 image frames per second.

The Alpha camera is optimized for lens conversion and as such, photographers can freely alter the camera lenses while retaining exclusive camera functions.

The camera also has the in-camera anti-shake system that helps in getting stabilized images. Alpha 900 has an image preview function that can be activated by pressing the depth-of-field button. It sports a 3-inch LCD for easy image monitoring. There is also a function where the photographer can adjust image properties before he take the actual shot. The camera also has a built-in HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) connector. This feature allows viewing of the images in an output TV.

The Alpha 900 is tagged at US$3,000 and it will be available later this year.
