Everyone knows that Google Trends was brought out at first as just another tool to let you compare visually between the different search volumes of keywords. This is still the same, it hasn’t changed in that respect but it has added a feature where you can get more information about the popularity of the website you are visiting based on the visitors that it has every day.
Sounds strangely like Alexa right? Yes, Alexa already gives us this and don’t worry, Google trends is not quite tweaked enough to be a total replacement for the other companies such as Alexa. As stated, Trends still has quite a bit of tweaking to do, it doesn’t provide as much information as the others do yet. Google Trends searches are only used at domain levels.
Now think about this, if you have a website that is popular enough to be ranked and included in the results that Google Trends pulls up then you will probably be not too happy to learn that even if you didn’t want to be included in these results, there would be absolutely no way to remove your site from their list. Although, Google doesn’t really follow that rule itself. It’s kind of like a catch 22 I guess because when you try to search for google.com or youtube.com it will come back with nothing. Pretty strange wouldn’t you say?
Something else for you to mull over when you see these statistics is that they are just “guestimations” or estimation, not exact numbers as they say in their help file.
