Gigabyte recently launched its most awaited EP45-Extreme motherboard series that answers the call for durable motherboards that can be safely overclocked. These two motherboards are the GA-EP45T-Extreme and GA-EP45-Extreme for DDR3 and DDR2 users respectively.
The new motherboards are engineered based on Intel’s P45 Express technology. It supports Intel multi-core processors of up to FSB 1600MHz. That allows the motherboard to withstand the pressure brought by overclocking. The chipset also provides dual LAN with a teaming functionality that is perfect for high bandwidth gaming.
One of the biggest problems in overclocking is the intense generation of heat. These new motherboards solve it by having a unique Hybrid Silent-Pipe slot cooling system. The structure permits perfect air convection that cools off the North and South bridges of the motherboard without the aid of a fan. Additionally, water block cooling systems can also be incorporated to aid the motherboard’s thermal performance.
These motherboards also come with various LED indicators, so you can easily monitor voltage and temperature. EP45-Extreme motherboards also come with Hardware Overvoltage Control ICs that enables the user to fully control voltage input in very small increments.
The new motherboards also boast a 12 + 2 + 2 Phase power design. The Extreme series also bears the Gigabyte Ultra Secure and Ultra Power Efficient Technologies, Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced, Dual BIOST- Patented Dual Hardware BIOS Protection, High Velocity 2X Bandwidth Boost, redesigned EasyTune6 and Dolby Home Theater suite of audio technologies.
