Fujitsu overwhelmed the computer world with the unveiling of six LifeBook mobile PCs powered by the new Centrino 2 platform. One of the six mobile PCs is Fujitsu’s first cheap tablet PC that is engineered for mainstream consumers, small businesses and schools.
The new and cheaper T1010 Fujitsu tablet is packed with the same power and features of T5010 but lacks the superb security features of the latter.
The two mobile PCs both have a 13.3-inch display. Each weighs around 4.35 pounds. This makes these tablets the “lightest convertibles with the largest displays on the market.” They have a complete QWERTY spill-resistant keyboard and a fully rotating screen. These are both integrated with Wi-Fi 802.11n for superb connectivity.
T5010 has a biometric fingerprint sensor for added security. It has a two-level BIOS and a built-in hard disk drive password protection.
The A6210 on the other hand has a wider screen. It has a 15.4-inch panel and new touchpad similar to that of MacBook Air. Another new tablet PC is the “ultra-mobile” S6520 is .5 pounds lighter than the other mobile PCs. It has a 14.1-inch LCD display. There is also an S7220 unit which has the same display but slightly different internals.
Fujitsu also released the E8420. The supposed desktop replacement carries Fujitsu’s complete security system.
All of these units are preloaded with Windows Vista OS. The T5010 and The T1010 are both available now, and are tagged at $1,769 and $1,299 respectively. The T5010 with vPro will be available in 30 days.
The LifeBook PCs A6210, E8420, S6520 and S7220 are available for order. Prices may vary depending on additional features but they start at $1,149, $1,359, $1,529 and $1,229, respectively.
