I think that I am just like any other geek on this earth; I love to get new toys! I am sure you all know what I mean. It could be something like a new iPod or even as far as getting an expensive sleek looking laptop computer. Now in the middle between these two must haves is the absolute, can’t live without cell phone.

As you know, this is technology that advances faster than we can snap up the latest phone. No sooner do we buy a new one that another one is released that you just “got to” have because it’s got something new on it that you say you NEED.

Gizmodo recently conducted a poll, “just to see” what readers would say. They asked how often people replace their cellular phones and the question that they also asked was why did they replace their phone? Well, the results are what anyone would expect of a question like that. There was a really big response from the readers who decide that they want a new cell phone when they get that “itch” to upgrade. As of this writing, people who were considered early adopters were 23% of the vote, and the middle, or late adopters were the other 45% of the vote. That was only two thirds of those polled.

Now about the update frequency, there are 45% of readers that buy a new phone every two years, and then there are the other 23% who get one every year. The first group makes much more sense because 2 years is the standard service length agreement in the States. Mind you, if there were more Canadians in the votes, the numbers would go closer to 3 years; this currently makes up 10% of the vote.

If you want to cast your vote on this, go to Gizmodo now.
