Last Wednesday, Microsoft announced that it’s willing to offer cash for advertisers and users of its search engine on online purchases. This will go through w new website called Live Search cashback. Any products that are found using this website will have a certain discount, even with the cheapest prices provided by the promotion participants. Advertisers will be paying per purchase and not, as many would think, per click.
Users of this service, have to sign up for it first. In order to do so, they should have a Microsoft Windows Live ID. Up till now, only US residents can subscribe to the new service.
The new website is based on the technology known as Jellyfish Cashback; a new technology that Microsoft bought a year ago. Jellyfish offers another service called Smack Shopping, which features decrease in prices of certain items until stock runs out.
Microsoft is trying its best to compete with Google in the field of web search and advertising. It has offered cash last year for users on a website called Live Search Club. The attempt failed because of hackers trying to increase their income! Microsoft have been lately bidding for Yahoo acquisition, which was a serious attempt to increase its search engine funds.
