Blender Foundation released 3-D rendering software bearing its own name. blender 2.48 is an open source software that allows the creation of a wide range of 3D content with cross-platform operability and small memory usage.

The software targets professional graphic artists, 3-D modellers, graphic developers and artists. The software can easily be used to render 3-D effects, visualizations in broadcast quality.

This software was originally developed by a company under the name ‘Not a Number’ (NaN), but it was later decided to release it as an open source.

The software features full 3-D editing and creation functions such as modeling, uv-mapping, texturing, weighting, animation, rigging, particle and other simulation, scripting, rendering, compositing, post-production, as well as game creation.

The software currently boasts more than 250,000 users, developers and enthusiasts working with and on the open source software.

Blender 2.48 can be used in standard operating systems like Windows, Mac, Linux and other platforms. The software can now be downloaded on Blender’s page: http://www.blender3d.org/cms/Blender.31.0.html
