Asus clearly wants to strengthen its grip on the netbook market as it plans to unveil a new Eee PC model, this time with a very low price of $200.

This netbook is actually a precedent of the netbook line Surf, which was originally released to Taiwan last year. The company is binging back with a cheaper price and hopefully more powerful features.

The original Surf netbook has a 7-inch LCD screen, an Intel Celeron M microprocessor and Linux operating system. Surf was launched before the popular Eee PC series, but the latter out shadowed Surf for obvious reasons.

Eee PC sports a more impressive 8.9-inch or 10-inch screens and 1.6GHz Intel Atom microprocessors.
As of this writing, there is not much information whether the new Eee PC will actually be called Surf or will have a new name. Even the details of its specs are still not known. Representative of the company said however that there is really one coming next year.
