Apple Goes Mobile with MobileMe Just when you thought that the 3G iPhone is the only thing connected to Apple that we should be talking about, here comes MobileMe.

Apple recently announced that it will relaunch its MobileMe service this week. Because of this relaunch, Mac subscribers will experience a six-hour downtime due to the transition.

The www.mac.com website will go down on Wednesday 6 p.m to 12 a.m. PDT. Users of .Mac will not be able to access or use the site and its services during that time. The only services available will be its desktop based services such as the .MacMail.

But that downtime is a little sacrifice. Some .Mac users already noticed the new feature of sending and receiving emails at an @me.com address. After the update, users will now be able to receive and send emails both on their mac.com and new me.com addresses.

According to MacRumors.com, the new .Mac service provides Web-based email, a calendar, address book, photo gallery and storage capabilities. The very friendly “Push” synchronization service will also be available.

The MobileMe subscription will cost $99 a year but iPhone 3G buyers can get the subscription with a $30 dollar discount.
