AMD is gearing up to release a unique browser that’s aimed towards just AMD users. While AMD has not commented as to if it will work on non-AMD chips the company has said that it will only work on Windows Vista or Windows 7.
The beta version of this browser is not going to be released for a couple weeks yet however there’s no official release date yet. The browser is cleverly named Fusion Media Explorer. It allows users to explore various media via social networks. It’s not just a normal browser though it’s strictly a 3D browser.
There are many sites that the browser will work with such as Facebook. The advantage to using the browser is that it contains many different features that will make the browser easy to use. You can, for example, just drag and drop to download or upload files from the webpage.
The browser is an attempt to help AMD show off its graphic capabilities. AMD is working to improve its integrated graphics so that users can eliminate the need for a separate graphics card. AMD is actually hoping within the next two years to have gaming PC’s with integrated graphics that can perform as well or outperform computers with separate graphics cards.
The browser appears to be a great idea to attract attention for the company. However if AMD wants to be able to have an integrated graphics card outperform computers with separate graphics cards they have a long way to come. The problem with integrated graphics is that they aren’t currently advanced enough to produce the graphics that gamers need. This can be shown in laptops where the integrated graphics have problems even playing older games. Hopefully AMD will be able to create such integrated graphics as it will allow more competitive pricing for laptops with good graphics.
