The title for the most expensive laptop apparently is one of the least permanent crowns – as new and more advanced laptops sprout left and right (thus the high price). But when you talk about the cheapest and most affordable laptop, there is one that perhaps will hold the rank for quite some time.
This is the Alibaba NPX-9000 and at $130 this is indeed the world’s cheapest laptop (for now). The NPX-9000 may not be that bad with a 7-inch screen. It has 1GB flash memory and 128MB of RAM. It has a MIPS processor speed of 400MHZ. There is also an SD card slot and USB ports. This laptop easily beats the first generation of Asus Eee PCs.
According to the manufacturer, the laptop targets young buyers aged 19-25. This can be attributed to the fact that the PC doesn’t really pack any power. It is perfect for users who just want to check email and type some word document for a written assignment perhaps.
The only lowdown is that you need to ask 49 of your friends to buy the unit with you. It is $130 a piece if you buy 50 in bulk. That totals to $6,500. Yeah, bummer…
