Bing was released at the beginning of the month and has already made several headlines. In the most recent news, Bing may have Google rethinking some aspects of its search engine.

In fact the New York Times had reported that Google’s Sergey Brin, the co-founder, is having Google engineers preparing upgrades. The rumor is that the team is trying to crack the code on how Bing searches and what makes it different from the way Google handles its searches. It’s important to note that the co-founders of Google rarely get involved with day to day procedures.

There have been a lot of search engines that have appeared over the years. However it seems that Bing has grabbed Google’s attention more than any other search engine up to this point. Microsoft might have found a way to take back some of its market share from Google after so long.

Microsoft has been trying to get word out about Bing since its launch. In doing so it has spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $80 to $100 million. Google in the meantime has only spent $25 million in advertising all of last year. Microsoft has seen some results since launching Bing. It has grown to 11.1% of the search engine market.

While there are still many search engines on the market there are not a lot that can compete with Google. If Yahoo ends up going out of the search engine market in a few years then we can expect that Bing may really be the only decent alternative to Google.

Many consumers haven’t had a chance to try Bing yet. If you were to compare the two search engines you would find they both have their advantages and downfalls. Sometimes if you can’t find something on Google you’ll be able to find it on Bing and vice versa.
