Acer introduces a new home server that clearly competes with HP’s MediaSmart .

The new Acer easyStore H340 series is available in two flavours. The first one is the S1 that has 1TB capacity and the second variant, the S2, with 3TB capacity.

The two machines are same in all other aspects, except of course the memory capacity which has been already pointed out. The easyStore H340 series boasts 1.6GHz Atom 230, 1GB of memory, and it also has four internal drive bays.

These home server storage will be available in Japan in Macrh 6, expect it to come a bit later in western markets. You not see this cheaper in essence when you compare it to HP ex470, but here are the facts: Acer easyStore H340 S1 is tagged at $600 while S2 is available for $900 (hello kitty on the picture is not included).
