Iomega boasts a new home media network hard drive that it described as a Cost-Effective Storage, File Sharing and Media Streaming solution to your home.
This new product proves that modern storage hard drive serve more than saving or backing up precious files and data, today they can be bundled with other functions such as streaming in this case.
Iomega incorporated special software called LifeLine. It allows high capacity storage system to be configured to backup files, stream music, photos and videos among computers and workstations on a single network. It can also work on networked televisions, popular game consoles and other digital home entertainment devices. Talk about revolutionizing local file sharing.
Jonathan Huberman, president of Iomega and the Consumer and Small Business Products Division of EMC said that the new Home Media Network Hard Drive is a powerful network storage device that’s so straightforward that even a novice can be backing up multiple computers and streaming media around their home in less than five minutes.
The data storage is available in 500FB and 1TB versions. The 500GB is priced at 159.99 while the more edgy 1TB that can store up to 4 million photos and 1500 hours of film costs $229.99.
The company is planning to sport the product at the CES 2009 this January.
