Since it appears that every smart phone or hand held unit got a exclusive store, then there’s no reason why WinMo and Palm OS can have their own.

And with that Palm established its own store for WinMo and Palm OS, practically learning from the success of RIM, Apple and Google. A unique marketplace for hand held units of Pal is now online.

Dubbed as the Software Store, it will sell software and app extensions to Palm OS for a fair amount of price. There’s really no difference with it compared to Apple’s App Store, RIM Store and Google’s Marketplace, other than the obvious brand and perhaps, website logo.

Reports indicated that apps being sold will work on over 25 Windows Mobile / Pal OS – based Palm gadgets.

The store currently has more than 5,000 apps and games available for download. Around 1,000 of these are for free.
