Linden Lab’s provocative Second Life teamed up with Vivox to create SLim. SLim as in perhaps short for Second Life Instant Messaging is the game’s very own instant messaging/VoIP client that is dedicated to work alongside the game. Because of this, Second Life gamers can now communicate with others while they are doing onscreen interactions. Apart from this, SLim can also run even the Second Life client is not online.

The maker of Second Life Linden Labs pushed businesses to establish their own virtual workplaces and showrooms inside the game. Linden Labs believe that the introduction of SLim will further strengthen the idea. SLim on the other hand works on a one-to-one basis, you businessmen will have to wait a few months or maybe a year before they can have a live voice group announcement possible.

Vivox targets to improve communications in online games. It was founded by VoIP pioneer Jeff Pulver. Vivox is currently in many games like Sony Online Entertainment MMOs Everquest I and II, and Star Wars Galaxies

Second Life is also playable in mobile phones. Players can access the game because of Vollee’s free open beta software. Thru Vollee’s application, users can enjoy a full 3-dimensional Second Life gaming straight from their mobile phone. Vollee incorporates PC software for mobile usage and streams it thru 3G networks. Because of this, Vollee is able to keep the game appear very much like that in the desktop PC platform.
