Yahoo will open Buzz submissions to the general public starting Monday next week. Through this, users from all over the world will now be able to submit links and content to the aggregator.

This move is a part of the Digg-like social bookmarking website’s transition from its beta phase. According to Yahoo, their ultimate goal is to open the tool to everyone. Yahoo first ironed out bugs and glitches to the site before they opened it up to the public. The content of Yahoo Buzz is originally controlled by some 400 web publishers.

The site already surpassed Digg’s traffic and unique users in the month of April. Drive-through traffic to the sites and links posted in the pages of Buzz also increased according to some webmasters.

Buzz is very much like Digg, the only difference is that Yahoo Buzz uses a special algorithm aside from the votes of the users in determining which story appears on page one.

There is a Buzz item on the Yahoo homepage that will be dedicated to the top story in the bookmarking site; this item shall logically receive tremendous amount of traffic. But identifying this item, as many agree will not be automatic. Yahoo will likely examine its content before it can be placed on that ranking.
