Fabrik released an external hard drive that is said to be both eco-friendly and high-tech!

Called the SimpleTech drive, this external hard drive is far from being simple as it showcases data transfer speed that is 25% faster than standard products with USB 2.0 ports. It uses the “Turbo USB 2.0” port, a new hardware that can transfer data of up to 480Mbps.

The external hard drive can be used in Mac or Windows PC. It has a storage capacity of 500 GB supported by Fabrik’s automated backup software. This software can back backup files stored in the external hard drive by connecting to the company’s online backup service.

The drive has bamboo and recyclable aluminum as its enclosure. Also, the drives ship in recyclable packaging and include an Energy Star power adapter. Energy Star is a seal given for energy-efficient consumer products that has passed the international standards.

The new hard drive also sports a built-in virus protection system that helps prevent the transfer of infected files before the backup occurs. This anti-virus can be updated online without extra cost.

SimpleTech drive is also available in 250 GB and 320 GB capacity. The product requires an external power supply. It weighs 4.8 ounces, and are 7.5 by 2.2 by 5 inches in size. It is tagged at $160.
