Google Video LogoGoogle is on a quest to dominate (or at least be a part of) every media platform. It recently released the Google Media Player, the latest UPnP driven software that enables one to view images and videos stored on a computer on one’s television.

Currently, there are a number of ways to watch PC-stored media content such as movies. All you need is a compatible TV. There are paid and freeware software that can easily help you with that.

Google Media Player allows you to play the downloaded videos from Google. Google’s video website is fast growing and there are tons of people downloading videos from it. Microsoft’s built-in OS media player, the Windows Media Player, cannot play the videos downloaded from Google. This is because Google added a small header in the media file.

Experts already see that Google Media Player will be competing against Windows Media Player. But as of now, the only goal of this app is to provide a great service to patrons of Google Video.

The player is currently bonded with other Google software such as Google Desktop. Not only is it the newest alternative to Windows Media Player, but it is also an app that aims to bring back PC viewing to a TV experience.
