After more than 2 million downloads of IE8 Beta1, Microsoft has announced yesterday that IE8 Beta2 will be coming next August. IE8 Beta1 was release in March this year and has proven to be good. However, Beta2 will have significant improvements over Beta1.
Beta2 is expected to bring better user experience and more support to web standards. IE8 Beta2 has some new features like “Activities” and “Web Slices”. Microsoft highly recommends websites to prepare for such new exciting features before the final IE8 release. The new IE8 will have support for CSS 2.1 which will enhance how websites look in the browser. The new release will also have support for 20 languages, while Beta1 supported only five.
Microsoft is considered to be far behind Mozilla, which has recently announced its Firefox3 RC2. Firefox3 was expected to be finally released very soon in Mozilla’s “Download Day”, but it seems like Mozilla faced some trouble getting their final release. Mozilla announced that the final release will be a little delayed, and another candidate release “Firefox3 RC2” will be out first today. After all, Mozilla plans to ship Firefox this month, and it has expectations for a mid-June release date.
