Music 2.0 PlayerA group of computer engineers from Korea have introduced a new format for digital music. The new format enables listeners to control the volume of each music instrument separately. Some might want to raise the guitar sound a little while lowering down the drums! This is great news for music lovers as they can listen to music according to their different tastes. The new technology has an audio equalizer with six different channels; voice, chorus, piano, guitar, base and drum. Some user may want to turn the voice channel off and become a karaoke singer!

The new format has the extension of MT9. It is expected to be the next revolutionary format after MP3 and is highly expected to replace it. The technology is commercially known as Music 2.0. It was first conceived by ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute) and then had a commercial shape by the company Audizen.

A meeting of MPEG (Motion Picture Experts Group) held lately in April, selected the new technology as a new digital music standard. “We made presentations to the participants and they were all surprised to see it. They immediately voted to make it a candidate for the digital music standard,” said Ham Seung-chul, chief of Audizen.
